Wildlife Collision Monitoring and Mitigation Program

We have developed protocols for monitoring roadkill, data analysis, and mitigation measure monitoring. We have modeled over 6,000 Kilometers of Protection for the entire state road network to enhance territorial planning for the protection of road-killed wildlife and in improving the terms of reference for studies.

BioInfra Minas Gerais

The project was developed in collaboration with the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Minas Gerais, where protocols for monitoring road-killed wildlife were developed, impacts of highways on conservation units were assessed, environmental studies of concessionary highways were conducted, and over 30,000 Kilometers of Protection were modeled for the state’s road network.

Wildlife Collision Monitoring and Mitigation Program

We developed the Wildlife Collision Monitoring and Mitigation Programs for three concessions of Via Brasil (MT 100, MT 320, and MT 246). Monitoring protocols for wildlife were proposed, and databases were analyzed to identify affected species and mitigation measures to be implemented.

We use the ‘Kilometers of Protection’ to complement decision-making about the location of mitigation actions.

Evaluation of U-Safe's effectiveness

We conducted a study on the effectiveness of using the U-Safe app in reducing wildlife collisions over a 100 km stretch of the SPMar Concessionaire, on the São Paulo Ring Road. The ‘Kilometers of Protection’ for the stretch were identified and made available to the concession’s users for four months. We used the U-Safe app to inform about the risks.

Assessment and Technical Reports

We are a company accredited by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Minas Gerais (MPMG) for evaluating environmental studies and licenses conducted for highways and railways in the State of Minas Gerais. When requested, we perform assessments of methods, analyses, and results presented by different entities concerning the impacts of highways and railways on biodiversity.

Highway Impacts on the Wildlife of Morro do Diabo State Park

We conduct monitoring of road-killed wildlife and mitigation measures (wildlife crossings, bridges, and guiding fences) to assess impacts and propose solutions for animal collisions.
